Phillip Best Brewing Company incorporated in 1873; name changed to the Pabst Brewing Company in 1889; became Pabst Corporation in 1920; In 1930 Pabst acquired the Puritan Malt Extract Company. The Pabst Corporation merged with the Premier Malt Products Company and in 1933 the name of the company changed to the Premier-Pabst Corporation; in 1938, the name of the corporation reverted to the Pabst Brewing Company
